Volunteer Opportunities
The Boys & Girls Clubs offers young people what they need and want most: professional adults who respect and listen to them; a safe environment where they can have fun and be themselves; and interesting, constructive activities that channel youthful energy into challenging pursuits. Programs are led by 27 paid professional staff members, supplemented by volunteers. A variety of volunteer opportunities are available to individuals who want to help impact a child in a positive way.
On-going Volunteer Opportunities:
- Speakers: there are many types of speakers that would be valuable for Club youth to hear from. Some topics that we regularly address with the kids include - career options, setting goals, the importance of leadership & how to combat prejudice.
- Sports Team Assistant Coach
- Art Room Helper: work with kids to teach them crafts, the history of art and different techniques.
- Tech Room Helper: assist in supervising computer time, answer kids´ questions & teaching new skills such as how to use Microsoft products.
- Field Trip Chaperone: there is a wide variety of field trips throughout the year and we can always use additional chaperones.
- Game Room Helper: play games with Club members while encouraging sharing and good sportsmanship.
- Homework Helper: assist youth with general homework questions and/or tutor kids that need one on one help.
- Dinner Buddy: sit down with a table of kids at dinner to talk to them about their day, school, etc.
All potential volunteers must complete a
volunteer application. To learn how you can help us change the world, one child at a time, please contact Jack Evans at 330-773-3375 or

Special Event Volunteers
Throughout the year there is a wide variety of special events held for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Western Reserve. Some events are fundraisers and others are special days for Club members. To learn more about the events listed below or to learn about other special events please contact Sarah Fredrick at sarah@wrkids.org.
- Annual Extravaganza: this is the major fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Western Reserve. It is held annually on the 3rd Saturday of February.
- Day for Kids: every year we have a special day to celebrate our Club members. Typically it is an outdoor festival held at the end of August or beginning of September.
- Wrapping Up Hope for the Holidays: many Club members have not had the opportunity to experience the joy of giving a gift to someone during the Holidays. On a Saturday in December we invite members to join us for a special holiday party where they receive a yummy meal, time to make crafts & the opportunity to pick out a gift for a loved one in their life.
- Backpack Giveaway: for many families it is financially difficult to to buy their kids new clothes, backpacks & school supplies for every new school year. To lighten the financial stress we provide every Club member with a backpack full of school supplies to start the new school year out right.
